Turning into my parents

I used to cringe every time my parents cried out, "Look! There's an Asian on tv!"

Well, I'm turning into them. Almost. Every time I see an Asian on tv now, I want to cry out, "Look! There's an Asian on tv!"

  1. Have you seen Dr Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog? It's a short musical in 3 parts that Joss Whedon (of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame) made during the US writers' strike. Since it's a musical, the commentary on the DVD is also a musical, and there's a song about how there are hardly any Asians on TV or in the movies.

  3. If you're not familiar with Joss, you might find it a bit weird. The ending is quite dark, but it's worth a watch. I think it's very clever (though perhaps not quite as good as the Buffy musical episode "Once More, With Feeling!"

Here's how nerdy my husband and I are - while driving long distances or doing the dishes together, we'll sometimes put on the soundtrack of "Once More, With Feeling" or "Dr Horrible" and sing the parts together. Very fun!
