I found out last night what the trendy shoes are for teenage girls at the moment. Because a mum was wearing her daughter's shoes. If you had asked me what was fashionable with the young ladies I would have said thongs and ballet flats, but these shoes are the opposite of thongs and ballet flats. They are black clumpy sandals from Windsor Smith. The sort of thing you choose for comfort over fashion. From the sort of brand that sells work shoes for adults. Until now.

Enclothed cognition
http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2013/12/psychology-of-lululemon-how-fashion-affects-fitness/281959/
Half of this article is very good, the rest is about something called Lululemon. But I find the connection between the outside of the person and inside of the person very interesting. Lab coats make you smarter and workout clothes make you more energetic.

Long skirts.
Love the long skirt. I'm tall, so it makes me feel tall in an elegant way, not a galumphing way. Suitable for many seasons, if you layer properly. Actually works super well in the rain because the skirt can get wet, but it isn't touching you so your legs or leggings stay dry underneath.
I flicked through an illustrated book I own called When wanderers cease to Roam and on this page the author observed that the Muslim women in Niger "moved like mermaids" in their long wrap dresses, and so she started wearing long dresses too and observes that modesty is more relaxing because you don't have to hold your stomach in.

CPW on new dresses.
I bought 2 dresses on the weekend. That's way out of character for me. I didn't need a dress and I bought 2 of the same dress in different colours. $120 each, as well. But they are SO SWEET and fit really well and I bought a red one and one with penguins. I'm wearing the red dress again today, to get the Cost Per Wear down asap. I have a couple of sticky notes recording CPW of a few things I've bought. An $80 dress I got post Christmas has been worn 4 times in the summer. Not looking good. I think I'd like to aim for maybe $4 per wear in the first year, which means wearing it another 16 times. I'm sure I could wear it in winter, in fact if I buy some more leggings and thermal singlets I could get more wear out of a few of my dresses. Spending money to save money? And If I try for $4 PW for the red dress that means wearing it 30 times. I think there should be an app for this.
