Well, that's the definition of a sandwich isn't it? Stuff on bread. You are surprised by the weirdness of the ingredients? That's why it's a challenge! And the mushroom one was a good start, there was great approval of the smell when I cooked it at work.
Partly, I think our definition of fancy food has changed over the decades, and partly, the history of CWA is basic country cooking, with ingredients like lard, mustard powder, leftover mashed potato — feeding farm families. The fancy stuff is that they have perfected things like scones and sponge cakes, but again, those aren't gourmet by today's standards, compared to macaron towers and so on.

I'm beginning to doubt this challenge. The sandwiches sound a little bland - just random ingredients thrown together on bread.

ReplyDeleteReview: Like french onion dip on bread. Or maybe spring onion dip. Not my thing.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's the definition of a sandwich. But those ingredients sound unappetising together. I thought CWA was more gourmet than that.
