Subjects in an experiment were served identical hot chocolates in different coloured cups… all white on the inside but on the outside they were glazed white, or dark cream, or orange or red. And the result, the white cup was voted the least delicious. The orange and beige cups were equally the most delicious. Red in the middle. I had serious doubts about the orange and purple MKR decor last night, so it just goes to show the far-reaching psychological effects of colour. We instinctively like cafes that are full of wood and brown paper and warm natural things rather than a shiny bright decor. I think this revelation should begin the long-awaited decline of the popularity of giant heavy white plates.
