Bad with names.

Quote of the day, from one of the writers of The Office.

“I don’t think it should be socially acceptable for people to say they are “bad with names.” No one is bad with names. That is not a real thing. Not knowing people’s names isn’t a neurological condition; it’s a choice. You choose not to make learning people’s names a priority. It’s like saying, “Hey, a disclaimer about me: I’m rude.”

  1. The flip side, when you are good with names, people are shocked and you feel like a freak. And then they feel awkward because they don't remember your name. I'm usually good with names. Usually.

  2. I'm bad with faces, but pretty good with names. What do you call that?

  3. I try really hard with names cos I heard someone say that it's the one thing people care that you know. They don't love that you remember their job and forget their name. The name is everything. But you are right Elsie, it does look a bit too keen sometimes!

Karen, once I started trying harder with names I realised that I didn't always recognise people! My next door neighbour is "Pru", but I'll walk past her every time unless she waves right at me!
