Comedians are the new Comic Sans.* Part 1.

They are fun to listen to and don't have many opinions, so comedians have filled almost every niche in media. The career path of a comedian in Australia is now:
  1. Stand up gigs
  2. Stand up gig on Rove
  3. Contestant on Spicks and Specks
  4. Contestant on Thank God You're Here
  5. Regular segment in something on channel ten
  6. Radio host
  7. TV host
So as you can see there is no point doing a B. Communications (Journalism) if you want to be on television, you just have to get to know Rove!

*Ban Comic Sans.

  1. I have noticed that most radio hosts were/are comedians e.g. Merrick & Rosso, Hamish & Andy, Adam Spencer, Will Anderson etc etc

  2. Unfortunately Jess you have outlined the career path for unfunny comedians. Generally the people who appear on Rove (including Rove most of the time) are/is unfunny. It is then these unfunny comedians who go on to fill every niche in society because they have at one time or another been connected to Rove, who is like the Godfather of Australian comedy and television.

It's not that Rove is the root of all evil in the Australian comedy world, but the love of Rove that is the problem. Ban Rove and watch it all improve (that's my two cents rant for the day over, sorry for using your blog comments for my outlet).
