Rain survival.

Umbrellas only keep the rain off your head. If you walk in heavy rain, you will experience a lot of splashback from puddles, and rain which blows under the umbrella.

So my first tip, no jeans if it looks like rain. Jeans dry slowly and get heavy when wet. Light trousers, or shorts if it isn't too cold.

My second tip is, if you get stuck in heavy rain go barefoot. Thongs are ideal, gumboots if you are prepared, but I have been caught out several times in sneakers, with a lot of rain to cross between a bus stop and a destination. If you wear your shoes, you will have wet feet AND wet shoes. If you remove your shoes and carry them, you will have wet feet, BUT, the ability to dry them easily and replace your dry shoes and be comfortable for the rest of the day.

(You know what's surprising? when I finish a post and want to tag it, there is ALWAYS a pre-existing tag. This is not the first post about rain.)
